More than 15 years in the house of National Opera

September 13, 1993 was the day when two chamber choirs were "married".

The establishing of the MIXED CHOIR OF ESTONIA SOCIETY was naturally an act of restitution - since 1912 until 1940 a mixed choir existed under another name in the same society. The Estonia Society is a cultural organisation which created Estonian National Opera.
The choir was established by Peeter Perens and Heli Jürgenson. Heli Jürgenson is the main conductor since that time. In April 1999 when Peeter Perens left the choir, Jüri-Ruut Kangur became the new male conductor. 2 years later he was replaced by Jorma Sarv.
The Mixed Choir of Estonia Society has around 50 singers, most of them are 20-40 years old.

The choir gives individual concerts and takes also part in greater projects and festivals in Estonia as well as abroad. We have also won prizes in some international competitions, including the Grand Prix in Barcelona, 2001 (Europe... and its songs). The repertoire of our choir consists of the choral music of different centuries and music written by various Estonian and foreign composers.
We have also got our own traditions, one of them, for example is our anniversary party every year, Christmas or New Year´s parties, "benefit evenings" every spring or hiking almost every summer in wild areas somewhere in our beautiful country.
